Tanzania's Coast

Hidden treasures

Are you looking for pristine sand, big waves and breathtaking sunsets?

Then the coast of Tanzania might be the right place for your next holidays!

Recharge your batteries and enjoy the beauty of nature in Tanzania

The coast of Tanzania is still largely undeveloped for beach tourism and therefore in many places a pole of tranquility to recharge your batteries and absorb the beauty of nature.

There are only a few small sections near Dar es Salaam, in Bagamoyo, Pangani, Tanga and Kilwa, which are already developed with hotels. The accessibility of these coastal sections in Africa is partly only possible with small bush planes or with longer car transfers from Dar es Salaam.

Pangani in Tanga, for example, is one of Tanzania's most popular beach destinations. This is due to its soft white sand and clear blue waters. The warm currents of the Indian Ocean make this place ideal for swimming, snorkeling and other water activities.

Snorkeling and Diving Trips - Discover Tanzania's diverse underwater world!

Tanzania also has some breathtaking lake beaches to offer snorkelers and divers their money's worth.

Lake Victoria, for example, is the largest lake in Tanzania and one of the most beautiful places to unwind. It is known for its lush vegetation and clean white sand that stretches along the shoreline. From here you can enjoy activities such as fishing or swimming in the calm waters of the lake.

Another popular beach destination in Tanzania is Lake Tanganyika near the border with Bu-rundi, where diving and snorkeling trips reward travelers with incredible sights.

Tanzania also offers numerous opportunities for experienced divers seeking the thrill of the deep sea: Mnemba Island Marine Reserve is one of Tanzania's best diving destinations. Here there are breathtaking reefs and underwater paradises teeming with life.

Further north, Kigombe Beach offers beautiful coral gardens and a variety of reefs to explore in shallow water.

Tanzania is known for these and other spectacular coral reefs - almost every region along the coast in Tanzania has them and they are carefully protected. A whole new world of underwater beauty is waiting for you to explore.

Tanzania's coast - habitat for the most diverse mee-res inhabitants!

Tanzania's coastline has one of the most diverse and beautiful marine ecosystems in the world, populated by some of the world's most exotic animals. From colorful coral reefs to stunning creatures large and small, Tanzania's beaches and underwater world are the perfect destination for any nature lover.

In Tanzania's underwater worlds, you can discover everything from giant clams and starfish to vibrant fish species like angelfish and parrotfish. Tansa-nia's waters are home to an incredible variety of marine life.
If you are lucky, you may spot some of Tanzania's larger marine life: Manta rays, whale sharks, dolphins and humpback whales are just a few of the impressive examples. Many of Tanzania's islands also offer great opportunities to see these amazing creatures up close, for example Pemba, Mafia and Zanzibar!

Tanzania is also home to one of the world's largest populations of green and hawksbill turtles. They can often be seen swimming along the coasts or nesting on the beaches.
