Detailed travel plan

  • Day 1

    Stone Town Tour

2500 limestone buildings (Stone Town) form the oldest and most interesting part of Zanzibar City. The little streets, 45 mosques, 2 Christian churches and 4 Hindu halls invite you to explore.

    Sightseeing tour:

The city tour lasts half a day. You will be accompanied by a guide who will explain the fascinating, historical corners of Stone Town to you. You will visit a former slave market, the museum, the House of Wonders and the old fort. Visiting the local market is also an experience.

    City tour:

You visit all the places, like the city tour, but without the museum.

    Stonetown by night:

You start your tour with a sundowner at the Africa House. Afterward, explore the historical sites on foot.

  • Day 1

    Spice tour

You drive into the interior of the island and discover the spice world of Zanzibar. You will stop at various small farms and learn about the plants, spices that are grown and their medicinal uses. Over a distance of 20 km you will pass through smaller villages such as Bububu, Kidichi and Kizimbani. You can try some spices and fruits yourself on site. Beautiful pictures can be created in the orchards.

  • Day 1

    Prison Island

You can plan this tour as a half-day or full-day tour.
You take the boat from Stonetown (large fig tree at Forodhani Market) for about 35 minutes to the small Prison Island. This island, steeped in history, was previously used as a hiding place for slaves and was then temporarily used as a hospital or quarantine station for contagious diseases.

The island offers both historical and scenic attractions that invite you to swim, and coral reefs for snorkeling. Also known for the giant tortoises and the different bird species.

  • Day 1

    Jozani Forest

Jozani Forest is about 45 minutes south of Stonetown and is home to the red Colobus monkeys that are only found there.

These monkeys are very friendly contemporaries and willingly allow themselves to be photographed. You will take a short walk into the forest and learn about different plants and tree species.

  • Day 1

    Excursion to the north coast

Day trip to the north coast of Zanzibar. You get an insight into the small villages of Zanzibar. You will pass the Mvuleni water cave and stop in the village of Mkokotoni. At the local market you can watch the fish auction and buy the catch of the day for yourself.

Another highlight is a visit to a traditional dhow shipyard.
Afterwards you can relax on the incomparable sandy beach of Nungwi and enjoy your barbecue lunch.

  • Day 1

    Swahili culture

Discover the Swahili culture. On today's day tour, various traditional Swahili crafts will be explained to you:

Basket making, weaving, pottery, milling millet, making ropes from coconut, climbing a coconut palm, building a traditional house, baking bread, visiting a banana plantation, visiting a Koran school and of course traditional Swahili music.

  • Day 1

    Safari Blue

You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to Fumba, approximately 40 minutes southwest of Stonetown. From here, take a boat out to snorkel. During the excursion, a delicious Zanzibari seafood lunch will be prepared.

Soft drinks as well as tea and coffee are included. You drive to Menai Bay, an incomparable water reserve, with dolphins, sandbars and coral reefs. After that, you will return to Fumba.

Note: please note, this tour is not a private tour, but many guests from all over the island come together here and share the boats.
