Mount Meru

The third highest mountain in Africa

Facts

The third highest mountain in Africa (4562 m) is located about 65 km southwest of Mount Kilimanjaro. Nestled in the Arusha National Park and created by volcanic activity. The peak - Socialist Peak - can be climbed on mountain tours lasting 3-4 days. There are only two huts on the mountain: the Miriakamba and the Saddle Hut.

The ascent to the summit starts at night from the Saddle Hut. After about 1 hour you will reach Rhino Point (3800 meters) and after another 4-5 hours you will reach the summit.

Climbing Mount Meru

Climbing Mount Meru is the perfect preparation for trekking and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. It provides optimal acclimatization and increases the chances of reaching the Uhuru peak. But even the conquest of Mount Meru alone is already an adventure. Particularly high technical requirements are not necessary, but you should be sure-footed to reach the summit of Mount Meru.
