Detailed travel plan

  • Day 1

Arrival am Jomo Kenyatta Airport - Welcome in Kenya

Today you arrive at the airport in Nairobi. You have already purchased your visa online in advance and are collecting your luggage. At the exit you will be met by your driver and after a short briefing you will go to the safari camp. You will arrive there in time for lunch. In the afternoon you take a guided tour to the lake. Observe the different bird species here. Dinner and overnight in camp.

  • Day 2

    Gamedrive

After breakfast, embark on a boat tour to Crescent Island. This is a private game reserve on the east side of Lake Naivasha. On this excursion you will get giraffes, zebras, gazelles and many species of birds in front of your lens. You will be back at camp in time for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Born Free charity museum and learn the true story of Elsa - the little lion cub raised and released back into the wild by George and Joy Adamson. Dinner and overnight in camp.

Do you know the story of the baby lion Elsa?
No? Then you can expand your knowledge on this tour. The film "Born Free" ("Born Free - Queen of the Wild") changed the way many people view animals about 50 years ago. It is a true story that Joy Adamson lived through with her husband George.

The story went something like this:
The films are based on real events and tell the story of three lions in Kenya, whose mother was shot by George Adamson, a gamekeeper. He brings the little lions to the farm, where his wife, Joy Adamson, bottles them up. Elsa is the smallest and weakest lion cub and the special darling of his surrogate mother. The two older lions are given to a zoo when they are bigger, but Joy Adamson does not have the heart to force Elsa to live in captivity as well. She wants Elsa to be able to live in freedom.
It's not that easy, because she has to teach Elsa how to hunt and survive in the wild. They finally succeed, and Elsa joins a pride of lions. A year later, she returns to the Adamson family with three cubs, but only for one visit.

  • Day 3

From Lake Naivasaha back to Nairobi

Today your journey is coming to an end. You are returning to Nairobi. The journey time is approx. 1 hour (lunch not included in the price). We will be happy to drop you off at the hotel or airport and say goodbye to you.

Would you like to add a beach holiday to it? We would be happy to make you a suggestion - ask us!

Elsamere Conservation Center

Elsamere was home to the environmentalists Joy and George Adamson, where they took care of orphaned big cats. By now it was turned into a sanctuary with lodge. The area is still a paradise for wild animals. A small bunch of black and white Colobus monkeys lives and plays in the acacia trees. More than 260 bird species live there too. The guests of Elsamere stay in four cottages, all with patios with lake view and own bathroom. Visitors for the day are welcome too. They can visit the museum and shop and drink the best afternoon tea throughout Kenya. Elsamere offers boats for bird watching and visiting Crescent Island.
