The Maramboi Tented Camp is located right in the middle of Tarangire and Lake Manyara. It is about 20minutes from the Tarangire main gate and 45minutes from the Lake Manyara gate. The tents are well appointed with all comforts and have a shower and toilet inside the tent. The view over Lake Manyara from the patios is beautiful, especially in the evenings. From time to time you will meet animals, like zebras and warthogs, because of the position of the camp between two national parks. Water holes in front of the lounge or the pool attract animals and you can watch them at close range. The camp offers guided walks to the Lake Manyara, very early in the morning or in the late afternoon. Drinks are included.
The Tarangire National Park is one of 11 national parks in Tanzania. It is situated southwest of Arusha near Lake Manyara and is divided by Tarangire river, which is the only water source during dry season. Therefore the park is home to many animals. Its landscape is mostly made of savannah and stretches over 2600 km² at a height of about 900 m. The many baobab trees, elephants and various bird species have made the park famous.
The Lake Manyara National Park features a groundwater forest very rare to East Africa, transitioning into grass plains with acacia trees and open grasslands. At the banks of Lake Manyara, you can discover swamplands. The park is home to about 20 to 30 lions which enjoy resting on the trees, as well as some leopards and many monkeys of different species. Common animals of the park are giraffes, impalas, gnus, zebras, hippos and large buffalo herds.
The Ngorongoro preservation area is situated between the Serengeti and Lake Manyara National Park. Within the preservation area, the Ngorongoro Crater is located, which is the largest caldera in the world. The crater is 600 m deep and 260 km² large, and represents the variety of east African landscape and wildlife in a secluded area.
